Amerivespa 2019 to be held in Wisconsin

Vespa Club of America (VCOA) announced that Amerivespa 2019 will be held in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, June 19-23. Jointly hosted by the ScootJockeys and supported by more than 40 sponsors, Amerivespa 2019 is scheduled to feature five days of scooter-related fun for registered enthusiasts as well as the general public.

Amerivespa – open to all scooterists, no matter what you ride – is the largest annual motor scooter rally in the United States and typically attracts 600-800 enthusiasts from all over the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Europe, Asia and Australia.

This year signifies the VCOA’s 27th year and Amerivespa’s 24th national rally. Staged annually in different cities throughout the U.S., past locations have included Springfield, MO; Manitou Springs, CO; Knoxville, TN; San Diego, CA; Oklahoma City, OK; Portland, OR; Madison, GA; Salt Lake City, UT; Cleveland, OH; Denver, CO; Seattle, WA; Chattanooga, TN; Los Gatos, CA; San Antonio, TX; New Orleans, LA; Indianapolis, IN; Memphis, TN; and Richmond, VA.

Centrally located within five hours of Milwaukee, Chicago, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Detroit, Indianapolis and St. Louis, Lake Geneva could expect up to 1,000 Amerivespa attendees. The community last hosted Amerivespa in 2012.

The following is a quick glimpse at the schedule for Amerivespa 2019. Visit the website, amerivespa.net, for full details.

Schedule
Wednesday, June 19
… Meet & greet at one of our favorite hangouts for snacks, great wine, and live music during the Opening Nighty Party at Studio Winery (401 E. Sheridan Springs Rd., Lake Geneva, WI 53147)

Thursday, June 20 … Registration opens and two rides leave from Midwest Action Cycle (251 Host Drive, Lake Geneva, WI 53147), followed by an evening event at The Maxwell Mansion (314 S. Wells St., Lake Geneva, WI 53147) with live swing & jazz music supplied by The Mike Stone Trio.

Friday, June 21 … Registration opens at Midwest Action Cycle and the City of Lake Geneva has reserved their famous Wrigley Drive and Flat Iron Park for exclusive scooter parking, vendor displays, group rides and other festivities. Later, meet for an evening “party at the lake” at The Boat House Bar & Grill (N2062 S. Lake Shore Dr., Lake Geneva, WI 53147).

Saturday, June 22 … Registration opens at Midwest Action Cycle, an attempted World Record Scooter Parade is to take place on Wrigley Drive, and there’ll be vendor displays, a Scooter Concourse De Elegance, and an afternoon group ride all based out of Flat Iron Park. Daytime events will be followed by the VCOA Annual Banquet at The Grand Geneva Resort & Spa (7036 Grand Geneva Way, Lake Geneva, WI 53147) and After-Party at Oakfire (831 Wrigley Dr., Lake Geneva, WI 53147).

Sunday, June 23 … Scooter gymkhana, slow race, hill-climb and other events take place at the Ski Chalet (7036 Grand Geneva Way, Lake Geneva, WI 53147) followed by a short rustic road ride offering one last look at Lake Geneva’s gorgeous countryside.

While the community is sure to notice more scooters on the streets of Lake Geneva during the five-day event, Wrigley Drive and Flat Iron Park would serve as the best opportunities for the public to get a closer view of the many different variations of two- wheelers in attendance.

Saturday morning, event organizers plan to break the world record for a scooter parade by attracting at least 865 participants. Organizers first attempted the record at Amerivespa 2012, but fell short with 660 riders. This year, the attempted World Record Scooter Parade is scheduled to start at 10am.
