ATV trail closure date extends

The closure date for an ATV trail in Mercer County, West Virginia has once again been extended through continued negotiations to keep most of it open.

Jamie Null, executive director of the Mercer County Convention and Visitors Bureau, said Hatfield-McCoy Trail System officials have bumped back the closure date of the Pocahontas Trail from Jan. 14 to Feb. 1.

“Negotiations are continuing and they need more time,” Null said, adding that the goal is to close only part of the trail and leave enough of it open so riders can access the hundreds of miles of trails on the Hatfield-McCoy system from the resorts and trailheads in Mercer County.
