Part of Hatfield-McCoy Trail system getting an upgrade
The potential impact on local tourism of the impending closure of a portion of the Hatfield-McCoy ATV trail has caught the attention of local officials, according to a report in the Register-Herald of Beckley, West Virginia.
In late October, “the trail authority announced it would close part of Pocahontas Trail on Dec. 3 because ‘outlaw’ riders were coming too close to a coal mining operation near Windmill Gap,” according to the report.
The new trail will be 50-70 miles long, compared to the 40-mile Pocahontas Trail.
