Annual Pre-Sturgis gathering to be kicked off with live music

The annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is set to start on Aug. 3, but the Palace City’s Pre-Sturgis Party will welcome motorcyclists en route with a blowout event in Mitchell, South Dakota, on Aug. 2. The festivities start at 5 p.m. with live music from Shelby Lee Lowe, followed by the Ill Conduct Stunt Show, Daredevil “Cornstar” Cole Freeman’s jump at the World’s Only Corn Palace, and the Weston Frank Live Band.

“We’ve had a small annual party that has grown over the past 11 years to almost 500 people in our gravel parking lot,” said Brian Klock, president of Mitchell-based Klock Werks Cycles. “We have teamed up with the city to let folks know from the east side that we are motorcycle-friendly, and we encourage them to meet up with other groups to enjoy the ride across the state.”

The festivities will kick off at 5 p.m., going until 10 p.m.
