Pirelli, Metzeler announce MAP policy
Effective February 1, Pirelli and Metzeler will adapt a minimum advertised price (MAP) policy that is designed to support and protect the brands’ reputations and competitiveness.
Below are the MAP policy announcements from Pirelli and Metzeler:
Pirelli
Pirelli Tire North America is committed to producing high-quality products and will continue to provide superior customer service and support to resellers throughout the United States. Pirelli is focused on maintaining its brand proposition and will only partner with resellers who are equally committed to the Pirelli brand and its customers. Beginning February 1, 2018, Pirelli will adopt a Minimum Advertised Price (MAP) policy that is designed to support and protect Pirelli’s reputation and competitiveness.
“Pirelli remains dedicated to supporting its resellers with the tools necessary to succeed,” said Scott Griffin, vice president of sales, Pirelli. “The MAP Policy will help strengthen the Pirelli brand’s relationship not only with resellers but also between resellers and customers. It’s a priority that our customers experience first class service through knowledgeable staff who understand the ins and outs of our products.”
With customers in mind, Pirelli places a strong emphasis on investing time and resources to provide potential customers knowledgeable staff, appealing and informative product presentation, available inventory and other services that promote the sale of Pirelli branded products. The MAP policy covers all resellers of Pirelli products located in the United States but applies only to certain products listed in the appendix to the policy.
Pirelli does not have a recommendation regarding selling prices, nor does Pirelli make any recommendation regarding maximum advertised prices. Each distributor, dealer, and other reseller remains free to independently set its own resale pricing.
Resellers who advertise products below the MAP, and in violation of the MAP policy, may lose privileges and benefits offered by Pirelli. Pirelli may designate promotional period during which the terms of such change, or to designate periods of time during which the MAP is not applicable.
Boasting 68 FIM World Motocross titles and, since 2004, serving as the official tire supplier for all classes in the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship, Pirelli continues to showcase its passion and dedication to the highest level of performance. Pirelli will continue to leverage its global racing platforms and innovative R&D process to help bring new products to market.
Pirelli encourages all dealers to reach out to their distributors and local reps for more information.
