Dealers to raise funds for Food for Thought program

Two dealerships, Open Road Harley-Davidson and Holiday Automotive of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, have teamed up to raise funds to support the Fond Food Pantry Food for Thought program, according to an article in the Fond du Lac Reporter. The program provides nutritious foods that children who qualify for free or reduced lunch can eat over the weekend. 

Mallory Gilbertson, chair of the Food for Thought program, told Fond du Lac Reporter that since much of the donated food consists of canned goods, those families who benefit from the donations are in need of can openers. The child-safe specialty can openers cost the program about $3 each and must be specialty ordered in bulk.

The two businesses will host a “Tailgates, Iron and Ink” Party on Saturday, Sept. 23 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Open Road Harley-Davidson, located at 24 S. Rolling Meadows Drive in Fond du Lac, WI. The Food for Thought program will have a donation table at the event where guests can contribute to the can opener project. 

“We’re both hometown local businesses who feel strongly about giving back to our community,” Open Road Harley-Davidson marketing manager Mary Kahler told the news source, “We have the unique opportunity to pay it forward to children in the Fond du Lac area and have some fun while doing it.”
