Report: Sturgis attendance likely will be down
With the 77th Sturgis Motorcycle Rally just days away, officials are still unsure of how many riders will journey to South Dakota this year, reported by the Rapid City Journal.
Tom Horan, Rapid City region operation engineer with the South Dakota Department of Transportation told Rapid City Journal that estimates based on informal surveys of businesses who take reservations from rally visitors indicated a smaller rally this year.
“The lowest numbers I’ve heard is that it will be even less than last year. The highest numbers I’ve heard is that it will be less than an average year,” said Horan.
Sturgis reportedly had an estimated attendance of 463,000 people last year, while the average attendance is 500,000 to 600,000 people.
