Longtime dealer Charles Ruiz dies
A recipient of the Harley-Davidson Motor Company’s 25-year Longevity Award, Charles A. Ruiz, passed away from cancer at the age of 67.
Ruiz worked in the powersports industry beginning in 1986 when he established the Deluxe Motor Co. and was the only Harley-Davidson dealer in Yuba City, Calif., from 1986 to 1990. According to his obituary in the Gillette News Record, Ruiz became known as “Chuck Deluxe”.
Ruiz also served as executive vice president of Cycom Business Systems, now known as Harley-Davidson Dealer Systems, from 1990-91. In 1992, Ruiz established a Deluxe Harley-Davidson in Casper, Wyoming, and a second location in Gillette, Wyo., in 1993. In 2010, Ruiz opened a third store in Sundance, Wyo., as well.
Ruiz died Wednesday, Feb. 22. He is survived by his wife Maria, and two nieces. Memorials and condolences may be sent to the family at Deluxe Harley-Davidson, 3300 Conestoga Drive, Gillette, WY 82718.
