Australia reports best motorcycle sales in 7 years

A recent surge in consumer activity during Q4 2016 brought new motorcycle sales up 6.6 percent over 2015, according to the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries in Australia.

Australia’s motorcycle, ATV and scooter sales reached a total of 114,783 units in 2016, which was an increase of 7,083 units over 2015 and the fifth highest sales result in the industry’s history. 

The 2016 new motorcycle sales were the strongest in the Australian industry since 2009. The report says that Honda, with 22.9 percent of the total motorcycle, ATV and scooter market, was the largest selling brand. Yamaha was the second best-selling brand, with 21.7 percent of the overall market.
