Study reports best purchase markets for millennials

The National Association of Realtors reported the top ten housing markets for millennials in June 2016.

According to the study, the top ten metropolitan areas include: Austin, Texas; Charleston, S.C.; Denver; Minneapolis; Ogden, Utah; Portland, Ore.; Raleigh, N.C.; Salt Lake City; Seattle and Washington D.C. Honorable metro areas include: Boston; Dallas; Des Moines, Iowa; Jacksonville, Fla. and Nashville, Tenn.

Of the top ten areas, the share of millennial movers make up more than 20 percent, meaning more millennials are moving to those areas than before. “As a result, the homeownership rate for the millennials who moved recently was higher than the average of the 100 largest metro areas. More than one-in-five millennials who moved in 2014 owned a house.”
