The Philadelphia Police Department received eight fully-outfitted Harley-Davidson motorcycles to replace older units, which they will use to escort Pope Francis during his U.S. visit later this month, according to an article on CBS Philly’s website.
Captain Jack Fleming commented in an interview, “These eight motorcycles will make us look very professional as we are escorting the Pope and other dignitaries that come to town. It’s really going to make Philadelphia shine.”
The bikes were paid for by the Philadelphia Police foundation with donations from local unions, corporations, non-profit organizations and individuals.
