News release

Shorai Inc., a global leader in the design, development and manufacture of prismatic cell, lithium iron phosphate power sports batteries, announced a strategic partnership with one of the most well-respected names in NASCAR, Earnhardt Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates. Having track-tested Shorai LFX batteries in their race cars for over two years, Earnhardt Ganassi Racing has signed Shorai as their official battery supplier for their two NASCAR Sprint Cup Series teams, the No. 1 team of Jamie McMurray and the No. 42 team of Juan Pablo Montoya. In offering superior quick start performance and saving each driver approximately 32 pounds with their lithium iron phosphate batteries, Shorai gives the McMurray and Montoya teams a strong competitive advantage on the track.

“With the announcement of our official partnership with Earnhardt Ganassi Racing, the entire team at Shorai is proud of the advantages our batteries offer the drivers on the track, the same advantages offered to customers of Shorai batteries on the streets, trails and in the water,” said Kevin Riley, Co-Founder and Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Shorai. “Since Earnhardt Ganassi Racing has been track testing Shorai LFX batteries for over two years, we felt it was time to formally announce our strategic partnership and proof of concept that our batteries offer many more advantages than traditional lead acid batteries, with quicker start times and huge weight savings.”

“I’m glad to have Shorai LFX batteries on board with our team for the Charlotte Fall race. It is always exciting for our team to have new partners join our organization, especially those companies whose products we use and rely on for performance already,” said Jamie McMurray, driver of the No. 1 car for Earnhardt Ganassi Racing.

Powered by Shorai LFX batteries, Jamie McMurray drives the No. 1 Chevrolet SS and has tallied a total of 6 wins, 9 poles, 42 “Top 5” finishes and 103 “Top 10” finishes in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. He is one of only three drivers to have won the Daytona 500 and the Brickyard 400 in a single season. Juan Pablo Montoya drives the No. 42 Chevrolet SS, making history as the first Hispanic driver, first Formula 1 driver and first Indianapolis 500 winner to make the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup, while also being the first Hispanic driver to win in NASCAR’s premier series and the 2007 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Rookie of the Year.

Well-known for their motorcycle and power sports applications, this official partnership with Earnhardt Ganassi Racing speaks to the superior performance of Shorai LFX batteries and solidifies their place as the industry’s foremost lithium iron power sports battery. In support of Earnhardt Ganassi Racing, Shorai will also have their logo featured on McMurray’s No. 1 Chevrolet SS for the Oct. 12, 2013, Bank of America 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, N.C.
