Eaton supercharger plant receives Kawasaki Quality Award

Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton announced that its manufacturing facility in Athens, Ga., has received the 2013 Kawasaki Quality Award for the Eaton TVS Supercharger application on the Kawasaki Jet Ski Ultra 300X.

“We are extremely honored to be recognized by Kawasaki for this unique supercharger application for the second year in a row,” said Jeff Schick, vice president and general manager for the Vehicle Group’s supercharger operations. “This award validates not only Eaton’s commitment — and the dedication of the entire Athens team — to providing the highest quality products to our customers but also our continued success in expanding our supercharging applications into alternative, non-automotive markets such as with the Kawasaki Jet Ski Ultra 300X.”

The Kawasaki Quality Awards were based on the “Supplier Report Card Score,” which takes into account defective parts per million (PPM) along with the number of Corrective Action Requests (CARs), on-time responses to these CARs, rework hours accumulated and complete first article inspection submissions. Eaton’s Athens facility had zero PPM, zero spills, no quality returns and 100 percent on-time delivery to Kawasaki in 2012.

Eaton has been making superchargers in Athens since 1988. The company’s superchargers power a wide variety of engines, ranging from super-efficient small models such as that in the Nissan Micra and Note to luxury and performance cars, crossovers and SUVs from Audi, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Ford, Jaguar, Land Rover and Volkswagen. The Kawasaki Jet Ski Ultra 300X is one of the first non-automotive applications for an Eaton supercharger.
