Two dealerships close in Washington state

Two northwest Washington state dealerships — Al’s Honda Yamaha and Mt. Baker Harley-Davidson — closed last week. Both were based in Bellingham, Wash.

A sign saying Al’s Honda Yamaha was not open for business was discovered by The Bellingham Herald last Wednesday, Oct. 31. The dealership’s website is now a broken link.

Mt. Baker Harley-Davidson announced in September that the dealership would be closing Oct. 31. Owner Greg Head said in a message on the dealership’s website that a market analysis left few options for the store.

“It was a difficult decision to close. We’ve been successful since I took over in early 2010 due to fantastic employees and tremendously loyal Harley-Davidson riders,” he said. “With our lease ending soon, we first considered a new and larger location; however, in working with Harley-Davidson a market analysis revealed limited opportunities for further growth.”

Some of Mt. Baker Harley-Davidson’s 10 employees were offered positions at other Harley dealerships.
