Suzuki drops out of MotoGP

Suzuki Motor Corp. has announced it is suspending its participation in the FIM Road Racing Grand Prix MotoGP in 2012.

The company cited the recession in developed countries, depreciation of the yen and natural disasters as the cause of the withdrawal. Suzuki plans to return to MotoGP racing in 2014 and is developing a new motorcycle for its reentry.

Suzuki says it will continue its motocross racing activity and support of racing activities using its mass-produced motorcycles, by obtaining FIM homologation and through cooperation with the supplier of its development racing kit parts.
