Steam powered motorcycle hits auction block
An 1894 Roper Steam Motorcycle is expected to break the world record for a motorcycle sold at auction when it hits the block at Auctions America by RM Jan. 12-14 in Las Vegas.
The motorcycle is the second of just two steam-powered motorcycles built by Sylvester Roper of Roxbury, Mass. January will be the first time it has been made available at a public sale. It’s anticipated that it will break a 2008 motorcycle auction record, which was set when a 1915 Cycle Board Track Race OHC sold for $520,000.
