Metzeler preps for Pikes Peak International Hill Climb

For 2017, the German motorcycle tire manufacturer Metzeler has proudly announced that it will look to carry its success and experience in true road racing to the Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, which is located in the beautiful mountains of Colorado Springs, Colorado, on June 25.

The event was first held in 1916 and is set to embark on its 95th running, making it the second oldest motorsports event in the United States. The unique and incredibly challenging 12.42-mile race course is nestled into the mountains, beginning at 9,390 feet in elevation and finishing 156 turns later at the 14,115 foot summit of America’s Mountain known as Pikes Peak.

The SPORTEC M7RR is one of the tires that Metzeler will be bringing to the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in late June.

“Metzeler is extremely excited to bring the exact same road race tires that are used at the Isle of Man TT, Macau GP, and most recently the North West 200, to the Pikes Peak Hill Climb in 2017,” said Oscar Solis, Metzeler Road Racing manager, USA. “The Metzeler RR line of tires experienced great success with a clean sweep of the top positions at the North West 200, and we have our eyes on similar results in a few short weeks when the Pikes Peak event kicks off.”

The pedigree of Metzeler tires remains undeniable, along with the continued focus for the hyperstreet and track category, which is why the SPORTEC and RACETEC family of tires continue to lead the industry for street and track day riders. Metzeler’s tire models include the industry-leading M7RR, RACETEC RR, and the newly introduced RACETEC RR SLICK COMPK.

For decades, Metzeler has engraved its name in the record books by capturing victories and setting records at the most prestigious motorcycle road racing events across the world, including its recent strong showing at the North West 200 in Ireland that saw all eight winners aboard Metzeler branded tires. Despite several successful attempts at Pikes Peak in previous years, Metzeler remains committed to increasing support this year through its mission to continuously develop products on the cutting edge of technology to meet the needs and expectations of motorcyclists around the globe.

The annual event offers motorcycle fans a firsthand look beginning with the Fan Fest that is scheduled for Friday, June 23 in downtown Colorado Springs. Fans will have the chance to meet their favorite competitors, along with enjoy a variety of entertainment that includes motorcycle exhibitions, vendor booths, beer garden and a fire fighter chili cook-off.
