ITP earns Vegas To Reno overall victory

ITP won the Vegas To Reno UTV overall at the 2016 Best In The Desert racing series event held in Nevada. ITP/Cognito Motorsports driver Justin Lambert, who ran ITP UltraCross R Spec tires on his Polaris Turbo, dominated the two-day race to earn yet another impressive overall victory. The ITP SxS teams notched a total of three class wins and seven of the top 10 finishes in the Pro UTV Turbo class.

“It was another big race for ITP. Some of our racers used the new 31-inch ITP UltraCross R Spec tires, while others ran our larger 32-inch size. Justin Lambert’s overall victory, coupled with the release of the Can-Am Maverick X3 and the Murray brothers’ two class wins, made for a great weekend in the desert,” said Rhett Turpin, head of ITP sales. “ITP UltraCross tires continue to dominate the starting line and the finish line, capturing seven of the top 10 finishes at another grueling Vegas To Reno Best In The Desert race.”

Lambert stole the BITD show once again, as he put his new Polaris XP 1000 dressed in durable 8-ply, 32-inch ITP UltraCross R Spec tires across the finish line. He was the top finishing UTV driver out of the more than 70 entries, winning both the UTV overall and UTV Pro class (non turbo). The win was Lambert’s fifth straight and second straight Vegas To Reno victory.

“ITP UltraCross tires have gotten us across the finish first all season long,” said Lambert. “If you want to be the best, you have to run the best.”

Jason Murray drove the No. 917 Can-Am Maverick MAX X ds, outfitted with all-new 8-ply, 31×9.5R-14 UltraCross R Spec tires, and finished an impressive third overall amongst all UTVs and first in the Pro UTV Turbo class. The win pushed the Murray Racing Team to first in the Pro UTV Turbo class points race.

“With the higher horsepower machines coming to market, we provided feedback to ITP to help it create a lightweight-yet-durable tire with a little larger size,” said Murray. “Behind the scenes we have been testing and running the 31-inch UltraCross tire for months,” he added.

Murray also ran the 31-inch ITP UltraCross R spec tires on the brand new Can-Am Maverick X3 SxS and took the win in the Pro UTV Unlimited class.

“For the release of the new Can-Am Maverick X3, we knew the 31-inch UltraCross was proven and the tire of choice. This was the first race for us using the durable, versatile tires. They truly helped ensure two big class victories.”

ITP racers Jake Carver and Mitch Guthrie Jr., both of who also ran the new 31-inch ITP UltraCross tires on their Polaris vehicles, scored Pro UTV Turbo podium finishes.
