Small business owners expect better credit availability

U.S. small business owners reported that they expect to be able to better access credit over the next year, according to a Wells Fargo/Gallup Small Business Index poll conducted in April.

A quarter of small business owners reported that credit will be easy to get over the next 12 months, whereas 32 percent reported that it will be difficult. This represents a net difference of -7 percentage points, the smallest gap in three years. Gaps of -11 and -21 percentage points were reported in January 2012 and November 2011, respectively. In April 2009, a gap of -6 percentage points was reported.

Nearly three-quarters (73 percent) of small business owners reported that they are extremely, very or somewhat confident that they could get credit if they need it.
