iPad shoppers spend more per visit than desktop shoppers

Desktop shoppers make up the majority of online shopping, but iPad and other mobile shopping have been steadily increasing over the past year, according to research by the e-commerce firm RichRelevance.

Mobile shopping has grown 1.9 percent from April 2011 to 4.6 percent in March 2012, and two-thirds of mobile shoppers are filling their carts on the iPad.

According to the report, the average order size for iPad users was $158 in March 2012, higher than other mobile devices ($105), the iPhone and other OS devices ($104), and even higher than desktops, which averaged $153 per order.

This infographic, created by RichRelevance, breaks down in greater detail how the mobile shopping sector is growing and change the way customers shop online.
