Terracross returns to Hay Days

Terracross, formerly known as the Quad Terrain Challenge, is returning to the 44th annual Hay Days this weekend.

During the Terracross events, riders will face gnarly rocks, rough and tough log sections and mud, while all on the track at once, according to a press release from Polaris and Rath Racing. For the first time, side-by-sides are also joining the utility ATVs in the event.

Racer Daryl Rath has been working for two years to help the ESPN X Games promoter bring Terracross back. The events are expected to debut in front of 35,000-40,000 fans during Hay Days, hosted by the Sno-Baron’s Snowmobile Club this Saturday and Sunday in Sunrise Township in eastern Minnesota.

“I have missed this type of racing and am excited to be a part of it again. The truly exciting part for our industry is the goal of this becoming a complete series with dedicated TV coverage,” Rath said “This race is following the debut of Endurocross at Summer X Games – those reviews only fueled this project to a higher level.”

Rath will be competing in the ATV event upon a Polaris Sportsman XP 850 EPS and in the side-by-side event in a Ranger RZR XP 900.

“It was important for me to keep all my sponsors involved with this as it will cause me to miss a GNCC Event, but the support and enthusiasm about me attending this event was even better than I could have hoped for,” Rath added.

Along with the Terracross events, Hay Days will also feature grass drags, a swap meet, vendor booths and more.

Arctic Cat is set to reveal a new snowmobile at 1 p.m. Saturday, followed by autographs from Team Arctic Cat racers from 1:30-3 p.m. At the Arctic Cat booth, visitors can also see the ProCross and ProClimb chassis, along with the Wildcat side-by-side.

Also exhibiting at the event are Ski-Doo and Yamaha, as well as aftermarket suppliers.

The Moore Brothers are scheduled to attempt a tandem jump at 3 p.m. on Sunday. For more information on Hay Days, click here.
