Piaggio plans March launch of Vespa in India

Piaggio will launch its Vespa LX 125 in March in India, according to a report on the India-based site deccanherald.com. Piaggio officials had previously announced that the company had planned to begin selling the Vespa LX 125 in India by the end of 2012. The company is also mulling motorcycle production.

“We are studying the matter carefully, there is a huge opportunity for that segment in India,” said Ravi Chopra, chairman and managing director of Piaggio Vehicles.

The company recently increased its three-wheeler production from 800 to 1,000 units per day, according to the report. The report can be found here.
