JAMA manufacturers’ exports continue to rise
Production and export of motorcycles forJapanese Automobile Manufacturer’s Association manufacturers rose in July 2011 compared to the same period last year.
Production for the big four rose 10.2 percent over last year’s figures, with 56,896 bikes produced in July 2011. Production of Honda bikes rose 49.6 percent, while Suzuki, Yamaha, and Kawasaki dropped 5.1 percent, 1.5 percent and 3.8 percent, respectively.
International export of motorcycles from JAMA manufacturers rose 19 percent in July 2011 over July 2010, with 41,846 in 2011 compared to 35,154 in the previous year. In the 50cc and under class, there were 2,649 units exported in 2011, up 2,112 units, or 393 percent. Overall exports from Honda rose 117 percent and Yamaha rose 9.5 percent, but Suzuki and Kawasaki dropped 12.7 percent and 11.2 percent.
