Survey finds Harley dealers want more inventory
A recent Robert W. Baird & Co. survey of 50 Harley-Davidson dealers nationwide found nearly 60 percent of respondents reported inventories were “too low,” according to an article in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
The response was unprecedented, Baird analyst Craig Kennison told the newspaper. Only one dealer reported inventory was “too high,” and several dealers reported having lost sales because models were out of stock.
Despite this, the dealers sold about 10 percent more motorcycle in recent weeks as compared to the same period last year, Baird reported to the newspaper. Dealers also reported they liked the 2012 model lineup on a 4-to-1 ratio.
