August 8, 2011 – Polaris introduces 570 model to RZR family

Polaris has added its second trail-capable side-by-side to the Ranger RZR line — the Ranger RZR 570.
At 50-inches wide, the RZR 570 is designed to fit on trails with narrower regulations. It features an all-new ProStar 570 single-cylinder, DOHC, electric fuel injected engine — the second ProStar engine, following the ProStar 900 in the RZR 900 XP. The engine produces 650 watts of stator output and has a removable cargo bed and a wet sump for easy serviceability. The RZR 570 is priced at $9,999.
“With the success of the Ranger RZR 800, we saw the need for a single-cylinder model at a price point that will allow more customers to enter the trail-capable side-by-side segment,” said Matt Homan, vice president and general manager of Polaris’ Off-Road Division.
In addition to the all-new engine, the RZR 570 also features a new transmission built with optimized gear geometry for more power to the ground, less driveline noise and lighter weight. The transmission has a helical cut final drive with high torque capacity to maximize efficiency.
The new Independent Rear Suspension (IRS) has specifically-designed geometry that provides 9.5 inches of travel in the rear, while the front suspension features Dual A-Arms with 9 inches of suspension travel. Pre-load adjustable ZF Sachs Shocks on all four corners and exclusive front and rear anti-sway bars keep the chassis flat while cornering.
Along with the other features, the RZR 570 also includes True All-Wheel Drive, a system that automatically engages all four wheels when forward traction is needed and reverts back to two-wheel drive automatically when AWD is no longer needed. It also includes tilt steering, adjustable hand rails and seats, a Certified Roll-Over Protective Structure, side nets and a rear 300-pound capacity flat cargo box with Lock & Ride.
The RZR will be available in Indy Red and will hit dealerships in late fall.
In addition to the new RZR 570, Polaris also announced these updates to its off-road lineup:

  • The Polaris Engine Braking System (EBS) has been added to the Ranger HD 800, and Polaris is introducing the new Ranger Crew Diesel. The EBS in the Ranger HD 800 controls downhill braking to give riders optimum control and smooth, even deceleration during descents, making carrying large loads even easier. The Ranger Crew Diesel shares the same 904cc, three-cylinder YANMAR diesel engine as the Ranger Diesel, with the ability to carry six adults in total comfort. The engine is rubber-mounted to transfer minimal vibration to the operator and provides low-speed torque to work harder. The fully-sealed, fixed center distance clutch driveline keeps water out of the clutches and provides better performance than competitive models. The Ranger Crew Diesel also includes a 55 amp alternator that gives the operator the ability to run many higher electrical load accessories at the same time. It boasts one-ton towing and comes standard with a 2-inch hitch receiver. Its 1,000-pound capacity rear dump box has gas-assist dumping operation and accommodates many PURE Polaris accessories.
  • Every model in the 2012 RZR lineup has been updated. The RZR XP 900 now features Fox 2.0 shocks with new, convenient compression adjustment knobs for toolless tuning. To reduce driveline noise, the unit has a new, rubber isolated prop shaft. For less steering effort and increased maneuverability at slow speeds, Polaris redesigned the front suspension geometry. In the cab, all units feature a new passenger grab bar tube with an anti-rattle bushing for reduced noise. The RZR 800, RZR S 800 and RZR 4 800 also will see improvements for 2012, including the new grab bar, improved cockpit fit and finish to reduce dust and heat on the operator, a front drive cage made from zinc for added durability, a durable dual clutch inlet for low and high speed cooling and a 33 percent thicker skid plate. The RZR 800 will receive a rubber jounce bumper in the shock assembly for improved durability, and the RZR 4 800 also will feature the improved Fox 2.0 adjustable shocks with compression adjustable knobs.
  • For model year 2012, Polaris’ Sportsman 850 models will have the most power in their class with the introduction of the 850 Twin EFI High Output engine. All 2012 models featuring the 850 engine receive a new airbox which is combined with new throttle bodies, resulting in an approximate 9 percent increase in power. With this new intake package, the 850 engine now delivers 20 percent more acceleration off the line. This combination allows more air to the engine and results in a machine that accelerates faster, provides even more extreme performance with a clean fuel burn while delivering incredibly smooth power across all RPMs. The power upgrade is available on the Sportsman XP 850 H.O., Sportsman XP 850 H.O. EPS and Sportsman Touring 850 H.O.
  • For 2012, Polaris will add more functionality to the value Sportsman line with the addition of integrated storage on the Sportsman 800 EFI, Sportsman 6×6 800 EFI, Sportsman 500 H.O., Sportsman Touring 500 H.O. and Sportsman 400 H.O. The new integrated storage offers 6.5 gallons of capacity, letting the rider stow loads of gear and still have access to it, even with items tied to the lid. The storage upgrade represents a 21 percent increase in capacity versus the Lock & Ride box that was standard on last year’s Sportsman 500 H.O, Sportsman Touring 500 H.O. and Sportsman Big Boss 6×6 800. The 2-Up line will see the changes found on the value line for the Sportsman Touring 500 H.O.
