KTM releases 2012 motocross models

The return of the 125 SX highlights the release of KTM’s 2012 model line of motocross bikes: the 50 SX, 50 Mini, 65 SX, 85 SX, 125 SX, 150 SX, 250 SX, 250 SX-F, 350 SX-F and 450 SX-F.

All 2012 KTM full-size two-strokes will have a new frame with linkage.

“KTM is still developing the two-stroke models. We have made constant changes to the all of our SX models over the years, and we have always made changes and updates to the two-strokes,” KTM media relations manager Tom Moen said. “In the past three years the two-stoke models SX, XC and XC-W have sold out very quickly, even in the current economy. We have been increasing the quantities each year to fill the demand that is still out there for the customer that is wanting a two-stroke motocross or off-road bike, and it has all the current technology and styling.”

KTM 2012 off-road model information will be unveiled June 17.

KYMCO to provide demo rides at AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days

KYMCO will bring its demo fleet of scooters and motorcycles to the American Motorcyclist Association Vintage Motorcycle Days, set for July 22-24 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio.

“With the current trend in rising gas prices, more and more consumers are turning toward alternate means of transportation,” KYMCO USA director of marketing Rick Pawelka said. “We have seen many new customers enter the scooter market looking for daily commuter vehicles that are as economical to own as they are to operate.”

For the 2012 model year, KYMCO has introduced the new People GT to meet that demand. Available with a 200cc or 300cc engine, it combines contemporary design, ergonomic comfort, modern technology and performance. Powered by a new four-valve electronic fuel-injected engine, it has ample underseat storage, a 12-volt accessory plug and a top case as standard equipment.

In addition to the new KYMCO People GT, other demonstration vehicles include the new KYMCO Downtown 200i, a slightly smaller displacement than the 2011 Downtown 300i, as well as KYMCO’s flagship Xciting 500i maxi scooter, featuring electronic fuel injection and anti-lock braking.

“The events team at KYMCO USA always looks forward to AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days,” Pawelka said. “We probably do more demo rides at this event that at any other venue.”
