Honda 4Q motorcycle sales up

Honda showed a 12.8 percent increase in motorcycle and ATV sales for its fourth quarter ended March 31, as compared to the same quarter a year ago.

A decline in Honda motorcycle sales to the U.S. market during the first three months of 2011 was offset by expanding sales into markets in Indonesia, India, Thailand, Brazil and Vietnam.

About 38,000 Honda motorcycles and ATVs were sold in North America during the fourth fiscal quarter, down 7,000 from the previous year quarter. The decrease was attributed to a drop in sales of the Gold Wing and the CRF450R, though Honda saw an increase of sales in its utility ATVs, such as the Four Trax Foreman, and the CBR600RR.
