Vespa celebrates 65 years
A weeklong celebration of the Vespa scooter culminated Sunday with a parade of Vepsa enthusiasts in Rome.
The patent for the first Vespa scooter, the 98cc, was approved for mass production on April 23, 1946. Since then, more than 17 million units have been sold, with 133,000 shipped in 2010.
Vespa, manufactured by Piaggio, shows no signs of slowing down at its age, with production set to begin in India in 2012.
