Honda’s North American unit sales drop slightly

Honda Motor Co.’s wholesale sales of powersports units in North America fell slightly in its most recent quarter.

Honda’s unit sales of ATVs and motorcycles totaled 44,000 units for North America, which includes the United States, Canada and Mexico. That is a 6 percent decline from a year ago, according to a Honda earnings press release.

For motorcycles only, Honda’s North American sales totaled 21,000 units, which is a 4.5 percent decrease compared to the year-ago quarter.

Worldwide, Honda’s motorcycle sales rose more than 21 percent to 2.8 million units.

Still, the company’s overall revenue decreased in the quarter nearly 6 percent due primarily to unfavorable exchange rates and decreased auto sales in Japan, the company press release stated.
