Harley-Davidson Inc. has elected John Anderson to the company’s board of directors, effective Oct. 1, the company said in a release. Anderson has served as president and CEO of Levi Strauss & Co. since 2006.

“Like Harley-Davidson, Levi’s is one of the world’s most highly regarded brands,” Harley Chairman Barry Allen said in the release. “John’s rich experience with international operations and growing the Levi’s brand globally adds valuable expertise and an important dimension to our own focus on global growth for the Harley-Davidson brand.”

In his 30-year career with Levi Strauss & Co., Anderson has served as president of the company’s Asia Pacific Division, president of its global sourcing organization, president of Levi Strauss Canada and Latin America, interim president of Levi Strauss Europe, and vice president of merchandising and product development for the U.S. Levi’s brand.
