New focus, models for KTM North America
PALA, Calif. — KTM North America opened its national dealer meeting Monday with a conservative growth message, but also an eye on the future with additional focus on its parts and accessory business and a new approach to its motocross sector.
“It’s a revolution. It’s an absolute revolution,” KTM North America President Jon-Erik Burleson said of the company’s evolving line of SX motorcycles, which includes the new 350 SX-F. The new model features a new engine, bodywork and chassis.
KTM also said it will put increased focus on its PowerParts and PowerWear business, in terms of added staff and ensuring new PG&A products are available at the time of a new model’s launch. KTM officials said they expect parts and accessory sales to quickly make up 30 percent of the company’s worldwide revenue, up from the present 25 percent.
“It’s going to fundamentally change the way we do in business in the coming years,” Burleson said of the increased parts and accessory focus.
