Honda: Worldwide motorcycle sales improve in recent quarter

Although North American sales remain down, Honda Motor Co. reported a 30 percent rise in its worldwide motorcycle division sales for its recent quarter.

Worldwide, Honda sold 2.6 million units in its fourth quarter, with sale increases coming in Japan, Asia and its “other regions.”

Honda’s sales in North America, however, were off 37.5 percent for its motorcycle division, which includes motorcycles, ATVs and PWC. Unit sales for motorcycles alone in North America decreased 49 percent from the year-ago quarter.

For all of its business divisions, Honda reported a nearly 28 percent growth in revenue and an increase in its net income from the same period a year ago.
