Sea-Doo GTX iS Wins PopSci Award
BRP got the nod from Popular Science in the magazine’s “Best of What’s New” competition, with the GTX iS being named the “Grand Award Winner” for 2009 in the Recreation category.
The annual competition singles out 100 products, selected from thousands, as the tech innovations of the year. The selected products are noted for their technologies that “represent a significant leap in their categories.”
The iS was the only marine product that made the cut. Already the model has attracted numerous honors.
“For 22 years, Popular Science has honored the innovations that surprise and amaze us — those that make a positive impact on our world today and challenge our views of what’s possible in the future,” said Mark Jannot, editor-in-chief of Popular Science. “The Best of What’s New Award is the magazine’s top honor, and the 100 winners — chosen from among thousands of entrants — represent the highest level of achievement in their fields.”
Bob Lumley, vice president of North American sales and marketing Sea-Doo/Ski-Doo Division, noted that the features Popular Science rewarded the boat for are ones that expand further into the line for 2010. “BRP is honored that Popular Science has recognized the many advancements the Sea-Doo GTX Limited iS watercraft brings to the recreational boating public,” said Lumley. “The innovation of iControl technology will be enjoyed by more riders as the technology expands to more Sea-Doo models in the years to come.”
Other products under consideration included Yamaha’s FX Nytro MTX SE 162 snowmobile, Callaway’s uPro golf-course handheld, and CamelBak’s All Clear UV Microbiological Water Purifier.
