European bike brand reports record high market share

Ducati introduced its 2010 lineup of motorcycles at Italy’s prestigious industry event in hopes of improving on a record-setting market share year.

Ducati President Gabriele Del Torchio told press at the Italian event EICMA that Ducati had recorded a high of 7.2 percent of market share on a worldwide level in 2009.

To improve on those gains, the manufacturer unveiled its previously announced Multistrada 1200 as well as changes to its Hypermotard and to its Monster family.

For 2010, the Hypermotard will now a become a family of bikes as there will be three versions. Ducati said it has improved the power and reduced the weight on the 1100 EVO and the 1100 EVO SP.

Additionally, the Monster family for the first time will feature ABS-equipped versions of the 696 and 1100 (basic and S).

Of course, the biggest 2010 introduction figures to be the Multistrada 1200, which features four different riding modes, traction control and electronic suspension.

Pricing for the Multistrada 1200 will be $14,995 in the United States, with three option packages available: ABS, “S” Touring and “S” Sport.
