Yamaha changes format for its product introduction

Yamaha Motor Corp. U.S.A. recently introduced its 2010 product line to its dealers via 26 simultaneous events, company officials told Powersports Business.

The product introduction approach was a change from the past as Yamaha has traditionally held one national dealer show. Henio Arcangeli, Yamaha’s Motorsports Group Co. president, said the revised approach made more financial sense for both Yamaha and its dealers and “it made it a more intimate situation between Yamaha and our dealer partners so we can talk about what’s going on in the marketplace and how we can improve things going forward.”

Yamaha did announce several changes to its 2010 lineup, including new YZ250F and YZ450F motocross offerings, a YFZ450X ATV, Stratoliner Deluxe and YFZ-R1 LE street bikes and EF2400 generator.

The company also said it is reducing its product mix for the next year to better align with the new retail market demand. For more on those changes and more details from the meetings, see an upcoming edition of Powersports Business.
