More than 350 attend inaugural PSBCE

INDIANAPOLIS – More than 350 powersports professionals turned out for the inaugural Powersports Business Conference & Expo held here earlier this week. The total attendees surpassed organizers’ expectations with nearly 210 dealers and executives from a number of OEMs in attendance.

“We’re extremely excited with the turnout, especially considering the difficult economic times that the industry has fallen upon,” says Powersports Business Editor-in-Chief Neil Pascale. “But then again, that’s exactly why we launched this event — to provide dealers with the tools and the knowledge to implement some of the leading solutions and best practices for overcoming the challenges of the current economic climate.”

Under the banner of Profit Xcelerator, this first-year event featured 16 educational sessions focused on helping dealers improve every profit center in their business. There were four sessions geared toward sales and marketing, four with a PG&A focus, three providing assistance with overall operations focus, two that centered on F&I opportunities, and one on driving service department sales. The event culminated with a “state of the industry” panel discussion, featuring OEM, distributor and aftermarket executives and a “dealer solutions” panel that provided answers for some of the industry’s biggest challenges.

In addition to the educational sessions, dealers also had access to 26 exhibiting companies whose products and services enhance dealer profitability. There were opportunities for dealers to meet with and network among the exhibitors throughout the event.

“We had one exhibitor who told us they conducted enough business at the opening night networking reception to cover their costs for the entire event,” said Pascale. “And another exhibitor was still closing up a deal after all of the others had taken down their booths and left the exhibit hall. It was truly a win-win event for the exhibitors and the dealers.”
