Governor: We’ll help Harley-Davidson stay in Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendall met this morning with union leaders from Harley-Davidson’s York County plant in an effort to try to keep Harley-Davidson in the community, according to the Associated Press.

Harley-Davidson said in May its facility in Springettsbury Township is not cost-effective and it might move its operations. More than 2,000 local jobs are at stake.

In an effort to keep Harley-Davidson at the plant, government officials have outlined a package of incentives, including help with job training and infrastructure, low-interest loans and $15 million for upgrades.

Company officials are expected to announce a decision on the future of the plant by mid September.
