New dealership to be only Harley store to open in ‘09
The opening of Wildcat Harley-Davidson in London, Ky., will be the only Harley-Davidson dealership to open in 2009, according to a press release from the store.
The Wildcat Harley-Davidson owners also run Smoky Mountain Harley-Davidson in Maryville, Tenn., which is the No.1 store east of the Mississippi, stated the report.
Wildcat Harley-Davidson is 35,000 square feet, and it includes fire pits and a rider’s lounge. Wildcat’s owners hope to add an outdoor music venue and possibly a restaurant at the site, but local liquor laws have stalled those plans.
When it comes to the bikes, Wildcat H-D will have the largest showroom in Kentucky (roughly17,500 square feet) and plans to stock between 85-100 motorcycles at any given time. Marketing Manager Aaron Snukals said the dealership hopes to sell 65-80 motorcycles a month, and notes the store could have next-day delivery on an even larger selection of bikes because of its association with Smoky Mountain H-D.
The dealership plans to hire 30 employees immediately and eventually grow to about 40-50 employees.
