BRP-Powertrain places transmission equipment order with Hero Motors

BRP-Powertrain, a subsidiary of BRP, placed an order of $250 million to get transmission equipment from India’s Hero Motors, a unit of Hero Honda Motors, according to the Wall Street Journal.

“The global recession is putting pressure on large companies. Under (these) extreme conditions, the big companies are looking at sourcing from India,” Hero Motors Managing Director Pankaj Munjal told a news conference.

The equipment will be supplied over five years from Hero’s factory in Ghaziabad, near New Delhi.
