UTI names new COO and senior vice president

Universal Technical Institute (UTI) named Sherrell Smith as its COO and executive vice president. The company also named Robert Adler as senior vice president of campus admissions, stated UTI.

Smith has been with UTI for 22 years. His previous role was executive vice president of operations. In his new role, he will push operational improvements necessary to enhance customer service levels. UTI CEO Kimberly McWaters says Smith has had many accomplishments.

“During his tenure as the executive vice president of operations, Sherrell has successfully aligned the campus operations, admissions and financial aid functions resulting in operational improvements and enhanced customer service levels for our students,” she said in the release. “I believe that in his new leadership role, Sherrell will continue to drive significant improvement in these critical functions.”

Adler has been with the company since May 2006. He was then campus president of UTI’s Norwood, Mass. campus in 2007 he served as the campus president of the Avondale, Ariz., campus. Later in September 2007, he was promoted to vice president of campus admissions.

“During his time as the vice president of campus admissions, Bob has renewed the energy and focus of our campus admissions teams through new ideas and perspectives,” McWaters said in the release.
