Aftermarket Manufacturer Wins Innovation Award

PWC accessory manufacturer Aqualuma was awarded an innovation award in the safety category from the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) for its new brake light system. The award was given out by the NMMA and Boating Writers International (BWI) at the Marine Aftermarket Accessories Trade Show in Las Vegas.
A panel of BWI members who perform product tests throughout the year judge all products considered eligible for the award. The NMMA qualifies eligible products as those that demonstrate innovative distinction to other products on the market, provide a benefit to the marine industry and its consumers, are practical and cost-effective. They are available to the consumer within 60 days of the show’s conclusion.
Aqualuma, which is known for its production of underwater LED lighting systems, released the product this year.
“It is such an honor to receive this extraordinary recognition from the industry, particularly in the category of safety and innovation,” said Carl Amor, co-owner of Aqualuma.
The new brake system alerts other riders and boaters when the operator releases the throttle, and the system automatically goes into flash mode thereafter. The flash mode increases visibility for surrounding boats, while the SOS mode alerts other vessels for assistance if necessary and automatically turns off if the engine is restored.
The low-energy-draw LED lights can flash for days without running down a PWC’s battery.
