BRP recalls snowmobiles

A fire hazard has prompted BRP, in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), to voluntarily recall about 430 Ski-Doo snowmobiles, according to a CPSC document dated June 17.

Friction between the snowmobiles’ fuel hose and the cylinder head cover can cause the hose to be pierced. This can cause fuel to leak, posing a fire hazard.

The CPSC has received two reports of fuel leakage and five additional reports of hose wear. No injuries or property damage have been reported.

The recall involves two Ski-Doo models: the 2007 and 2008 Expedition TUV V800 in deep red and black, and the 2007 and 2008 Skandic SWT V-800 in yellow and black.

Affected snowmobiles were sold at Ski-Doo dealers across the United States from March 2006-May 2008 for about $10,000. They were manufactured in Finland.

2007 and 2008 Skandic SWT V-800 snowmobiles were previously recalled due to an explosion hazard.
