Illinois gets almost $950,000 for trails

Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich announced multi-purpose recreational projects will receive $949,800 to create or improve trails in eight Illinois counties, according to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.

Funding for the projects is supported by the federal government’s Recreational Trails Program, which provides up to 80 percent of the cost of the trail projects. Governor Blagojevich says the grants will increase recreational opportunities, including snowmobiling.

“The recreational trail projects supported by these federal and local funds are good news for both residents and visitors to these communities,” he said.
