KTM continues growth pattern
KTM Power Sports AG reported increased revenue and profits for its first quarter in a statement Jan. 24.
During the first quarter of fiscal year 2007-2008, revenue increased 15.3 percent to euro 149.4 million ($221.5 million) compared to the previous year period.
“Despite the difficult global economic circumstances we were able to continue our success from last year,” said CDO Stefan Pierer. “The undertaking to jointly develop and produce 125cc and 250cc 4-stroke engines for street motorcycles with the second largest Indian motorcycle manufacturer, Bajaj Auto Ltd., paved the way for further success.”
KTM attributed its growth to increased sales in the enduro racing segment, higher revenues from related products (spare parts, power wear and power parts), as well as increased sales of OEM engines.
During the first quarter, KTM launched its first Superbike, the 1190 RC8, at EICMA in Milan, Italy, and the response exceeded the company’s expectations. Furthermore, the company broadened its involvement in the dual and supermoto segments with new models.
Due to the company’s expanding product range in the off-road and street segments, further increase in sales is also expected in the current business year. The growing demand for OEM engines and related products shall also contribute to growth, the company said.
