Bell Industries reports mixed Q3 results

Bell Industries increased revenues 60 percent for the third quarter ending Sept. 30, to $58.7 million, principally reflecting approximately $22.2 million in contributions from its SkyTel unit acquired Jan. 31, 2007, the company said in a press release Nov. 14.

Bell, however, recorded a net loss of $1.8 million for the quarter.

Bell’s Recreational Products Group, which includes motorcycle, ATV and snowmobile parts, goods and accessories, posted $11.8 million in net revenues for the 2007 third quarter, compared with $12.3 million a year ago. Operating income increased to $575,000 from $479,000 in the 2006 third quarter, benefiting from improved gross margins and a decrease in selling, general and administrative expenses.
