JAMA production up, exports down for September

A rollercoaster year continues for the Japanese Automobile Manufacturers Association, according to data the organization released Oct. 30. Its members Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha collectively reported decreased production for September, but an increase in exports for the month.

Motorcycle production in September was recorded as 131,170 units. Compared with the same month of the previous year, this is a 21,934-unit decrease, or 14.3 percent. September marked a production decrease after two months of upturn.

JAMA membership exported 111,452 units in September. Compared with the same month of the previous year, this is a 4,143-unit increase, or 3.9 percent. The export increase on the same month of the previous year marks the first upturn after five months of decreased exports.
