Japanese production, exports nearly even with 2006
The Japanese Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA) reported July 30 that motorcycle production among its members for the first half of 2007 was down 1 percent compared to 2006 and exports were up 0.1 percent.
Motorcycle production for the first half of 2007 was 869,211 units, which is a decrease after three years of upturn.
JAMA members exported 663,783 units in the first half of 2007. This is a 602-unit increase, or 0.1 percent, and represents the second straight year of increases.
JAMA also reported results for the month of June. Motorcycle production was down 2 percent (2,638 units) from the same month in the previous year. Exports were down 15 percent (15,212 units) to 84,615 units from June 2006.
