June 4, 2007 – Annual event honors top leaders, ’07 vehicles

Leaders from across the powersports industry gathered at the Newport Beach Marriott in California, May 7 for the 2007 Ehlert Publishing Group Inc. Awards of Excellence Dinner.
The 11th annual event, sponsored by GE Money, World of Powersports and B-1 Logistics, recognized not only Powersports Business’ executive of the year and industry leaders, but also best vehicle awards in the motorcycle, ATV, snowmobile, PWC and sport-quad categories.
“More than 100 powersports industry executives representing key manufacturers in the marketplace attend the awards to see how their products fare against their competitors,” said Dick Hendricks, executive vice president of Ehlert Publishing Group, parent company of PSB.
Paolo Timoni, president and CEO of Piaggio Group USA, was on-hand to accept Powersports Business’ 2007 Executive of the Year honor, given in recognition of his role in Piaggio’s unique marketing strategy aimed at making American consumers more aware of the environmental and traffic benefits of scooter usage.
Gregory Pierce, vice president and general manager of GE Money’s powersports division, was present to accept his award as one of Powersports Business’ four 2007 Industry Leaders. Other winners this year included Craig Shoemaker from Western Power Sports, Brett Smith from S&S Cycle and Eric Anderson of Scorpion Sports Inc.
For the vehicle portion of the awards ceremony, a new format was added this year to give an extra element of excitement to the event, as the vehicles of the year were kept secret until after the best of class awards were presented.
The Tiger Triumph 1050 was honored as the motorcycle of the year; the Yamaha Grizzly 700FI grabbed top honors as ATV of the year; Kawasaki’s KFX450R won best sport quad of the year; the Kawasaki Ultra 250X took home the honor of watercraft of the year and The Toyota Tundra Double Cab SR5 4×4 was named tow vehicle of the year.
