Cobra Sport Inc., a division of Youngstown, Ohio-based Cobra Motorcycle Manufacturing, invested $1.5 million to relocate its motorcycle manufacturing facility to Hillsdale from Ohio in November 2005 as a result of MEDC assistance. The project was projected to create 132 new jobs, including 70 directly by the company. The MEDC approved a state tax credit valued at more than $386,000 over seven years to win the company’s business. The city of Hillsdale proposed a tax abatement valued at $20,000 over 12 years to support the project.
