An exhaustive supply of exhaust systems featured at Indy – March 13, 2006
Whether for sound or performance, exhaust systems often are the first items a rider changes on a powersports vehicle. Just under 100 suppliers showcased exhaust components at the Dealer Expo.
A couple of the more popular applications in Indy appeared to be for the new Suzuki and Yamaha bikes outfitted with mid-ship “shorty” exhaust systems.
For instance, Yoshimura showed its new R-55 LCG (Low Center Gravity) exhaust, available in slip-on or full system, for Suzuki’s 2006 GSX-R600 and 750, and Yamaha’s 2006 R6. A new design, the system features rolled sleeves that offer a new canister shape, which is then attached to a cone-style titanium cap.
In other streetbike offerings, Gianelli offered a new exhaust for Kawasaki’s 2006 Ninja 650R, the Triumph Speed Triple and a huge line-up of scooter models; Arrow also offered a line of scooter exhausts; and M4 showed a line of sportbike pipes showcased by the mid-ship Standard Mount Titanium Full System for the 2006 GSX-R600.
In off-road, FMF continued to serve dealer queries about off-road exhaust systems while introducing an expanded Powercore S collection for sportbikes; Two Brothers Racing introduced its titanium performance exhaust systems for the CRF/XR 50 and CRF/XR 70; Remus displayed the Freeride, a new off-road silencer available in FIM-approved race set-up or EC-approved enduro style.
LeoVince, an Italian manufacturer, announced its product would be distributed through Parts Unlimited and Western Power Sports. LeoVince offers exhaust systems for sportbikes, off-road bikes and scooters. LeoVince’s Tim Calhoun said the company’s latest product is the X3 system for the Honda CRF250R.
For cruiser enthusiasts, Supertrapp showcased its Road Legends Phantom, X and Crack pipes designed by Paul Yaffe; Vance & Hines offered American V-twin riders the Big Radius pipe and Metric owners a load of new applications, including the Shortshots Staggered; Caliber High Performance Exhaust specialized in pipes for V-Rods.
Finally, BUB Enterprises, Inc., known mostly for its cruiser applications, displayed its Mikado slip-on silencers for Japanese sportbikes. psb
